Building their beautiful new Wayzata home, owners knew they had a desire to grow their own food year-round using hydroponics. Jim and the Conservatory Craftsmen team were able to design and craft a space where they would be able to grow produce through the extreme Minnesota winters. And in doing so, our team created more than just a heated glass room to grow plants in, we built a greenhouse, complete with features including in-floor heat, and automated roof vents and windows.

The construction on this project included a roof with a 45-degree pitch and a large gable. We used a custom color on the powder coating to achieve a match to the color used in the exterior construction of the home.

A few challenges were met with this job. One was accessibility since there were many tradesmen on-site, all looking to accomplish their work at the same time. Additionally, Covid was a factor and keeping the job site safe. Then throw in a Minnesota winter – both trying to beat it, then working in it. But we completed the job and the result is this beautiful space that now accommodates the owner’s year-round growing needs.
