Project in Motion: Minnetonka, MN

A loving couple wanted to have the perfect greenhouse for their plants.

Location: Minnetonka, MN
Designer: Conservatory Craftsmen
Architect: Craft Build, Rouscher Design
Category: Greenhouse

The owners of this home are so excited about cooking – and the wife is an amazing cook who has a passion for using fresh organic food, and they love to grow their own vegetables. However, being located in Minnesota – the growing season is extremely short. To breath life into their desire to always have fresh food on hand, they contacted us to start planning a beautiful and functional conservatory greenhouse.

The first issue we encountered with this build: The house has every look of Prairie Style architecture. Seems FLW would have probably added conservatories to his homes if we were in business then! So, we started with a basic plan of a linkway to the house, keep the conservatory/greenhouse attached but not.

Then we consulted with architects: Nate Tolefson at Craft Build and Tom Rouscher at Rouscher Design. The team came up with a most difficult design (of course) but a great plan for owners.

Project Updates

Work has begun, Permits taken, footings poured, base framing complete. Inside the house, there have been plumbing connections, Reverse Osmosis filters installed and wiring roughed in.

Awaiting the arrival, Jan 4 of the conservatory structure.

Crews will begin work the first week of January and we can keep you posted with photos and stories of how this very detailed space has been designed and appointed.

The frame has arrived on time, and we’re busy working on installing.
