Custom Conservatory Design Project Overview

This custom-designed conservatory features three interconnected architectural structures that work together as a single, cohesive space. Designed to integrate botanical environments, architectural craftsmanship, and structural engineering, the conservatory centers around a resistance therapy pool, with adjoining plant rooms that create a fully immersive greenhouse experience.

Built as a unified yet multi-volume structure, this project redefines what a conservatory can be—combining artistry, innovation, and function in one extraordinary design.

Key Features of the Custom Conservatory

  • Three conjoined conservatory structures forming one seamless architectural space

  • Central resistance pool beneath a skylit conservatory ceiling

  • Dedicated plant rooms designed for an authentic botanical environment

  • Custom steel trusses with reinforced decorative openings

  • Thousands of hand-milled steel fillets supporting intricate cutout details

  • Over fifty hand-carved relief panels integrated into the rafter system

  • Round-top conservatory windows, custom doors, and detailed cornice work

  • Reclaimed brick flooring and sapeli mahogany architectural woodwork

Conservatory Backstory & Architectural Design Approach

The design approach focused on creating a one-of-a-kind architectural conservatory that extends beyond traditional greenhouse design. By dividing the structure into three interconnected volumes, each space was able to serve a distinct purpose while contributing to a cohesive architectural composition.

From the exterior, the conservatory’s complexity and craftsmanship are immediately visible. A curved insulated glass structure rises like a greenhouse tower, while the central volume opens to the therapy pool beneath a skylight. Adjoining plant rooms expand the botanical experience outward, reinforcing the conservatory’s role as both architecture and living environment.

Innovative Conservatory Design & Craftsmanship

Innovation defines this conservatory project. Custom steel trusses feature decorative openings reinforced with thousands of hand-milled steel fillets—an uncommon solution that balances structural integrity with ornamental detail. Hand-carved relief panels fill the rafters, adding depth and artistic expression rarely seen in conservatory construction.

Material selection plays a critical role in the project’s success. Reclaimed brick flooring, sapeli mahogany woodwork, steel, and glass work together to create a conservatory interior that feels both architectural and alive with craftsmanship.

Why This Custom Conservatory Project Matters

This project stands as an example of bespoke conservatory design executed at the highest level. It demonstrates how thoughtful architecture, expert craftsmanship, and botanical intention can coexist within a single structure.

Sweeping brick pathways and restored landscaping guide visitors around the conservatory exterior, highlighting its uncommon shape, steel-and-glass construction, and finely detailed elements. Designed as both an architectural landmark and a functional botanical environment, this conservatory pushes the boundaries of traditional conservatory design.More than a structure, this project demonstrates what’s possible when architecture is allowed to be expressive, functional, and deeply intentional—all at once.
